The Common Ringtail Possum is also known as False Hand Possum. This species of possum can dwell in different habitats and feed on diverse vegetation. The possums in this species prefer dwelling on trees in hollows or by building spherical nests. Temperate and Tropical environments are favorable for these possums. These possums weigh between 550-1100 grams and grow up to 3-35 cm long excluding the tail. The tail’s size is almost the same as their body size. These possums have gray fur along with white patches behind the eyes. The belly of these possums is cream colored. Back feet of these possums make it easier for them to climb. The tail has a white tip covering 25% of the total length, and the possums can wrap their tail on the tree branches for better grip. The Ringtail possums feed on foliage, fruits, and flowers of a variety of plants including shrubs and lower canopy. These possums consume self-droppings in the day during their rest as those are soft but don’t eat the droppings produced during the night as those are hard.
