Reed Bees

Reed Bees are slender and black in color. This species of bees grow maximum up to 8 mm. most of the bees in this species have red abdomen. They build their nest inside dry pithy twigs in plants like blackberries or raspberries. They also dwell in dead fronds of fern trees as well as dead lantana cane. One of the bees in the colony will guard the nest entrance with its red/black abdomen by blocking it.
