The Blue Banded Bees have glittering blue/whitish stripes across their black abdomens. This species of bees are found darting near abelias and lavenders. The Blue Banded Bees are ground bees and build their nests in shallow burrows in the ground. They also build their nests on mud-brick houses. A female bee builds her nest but many bees dwell together in one nest. This species of bees grow up to 8-13 mm long. These bees are found in different regions of Australia except Tasmania.
