The Oriental Rat Fleas are wingless pests that transmit bacteria Yersinia pestis from the primary hosts, i.e. rats, to the humans that result in spreading the plague. These pests get scientifically identified as Xenopsylla cheopis and inhabit in warm, tropical and sub-tropical regions. These fleas’ species don’t have pronotal or genal combs that differentiate it from other species of fleas. These ticks infest rats, rabbits, mice as well as other pets. These pests grow up to 2.5 mm long and are wingless. This flea species can jump 200 times of its size. The color of this species varies from light brown to dark brown. The females in this species carry a dark-colored spermatheca in its abdominal part. The larva takes one year to reach adult stage. The female flea gives about 15-20 eggs every day which can exceed 600 in its lifetime.
