Fawn-Footed Melomys

Melomys Cervinipes or Fawn-Footed Melomys are naïve rodents in Australia. These are found in russet-brown to brownish-grey color. The rodents have white belly and feet with scales on tails that look like interlinked mosaic tile. Body size of this species can grow up to 114 mm and tail’s size is 160 mm. it weighs around 70 g. It gets identified as a rainforest specialist but is also found in several other locations including grasslands and cane fields. Though there is less information about their diet, experts suggest, these species are herbivores feeding on leaves, fruits, and seeds. In search of food, these can climb to the treetop. The hind foot length is longer than 26 mm. The tail is hairless with small scales and longer than the head-body length.
