The Sewer Rats are also called Brown Rats. The fully grow adult of this species can grow up to 240 mm with tail length of 200 mm. it weighs around 300 grams. The rats have a shaggy fur and the color varies from black to white. Generally the adults are found in brown color with dirty white on belly. The rodents have thick tail and long ears that reach the eyes when pulled forward. This species of rats don’t climb but are excellent swimmers. The rats paddle using their legs and tails to swim up the pipe and reach the toilet bowl. In search of food, the rats can swim miles in the sewage pipes.
Through the sewer, the rats get easy access to the drain pipes and find their way to the toilet. The rats find easy access to the readily available foods in home. The rats can feed on the fecal matters if they don’t find any food. These nocturnal rodents dwell close to human habitation for easy access to food sources. The rat species are commonly found in drains, sewers, tunnels and warehouses. These rats feed on meat of insects, birds, eggs, mice, prawns and scraps. These rodents are very difficult to trap!
