Coptotermes Frenchi is a native termite in Australia and found largely in coastal areas but also infest the dry areas. These termites build the nest in the root crown and inside the trunks of the eucalyptus trees. But, in the drier areas, these termites build the mound on the ground. The termites build galleries outwards from the nest. The galleries are in network with underground passages which may extend up to 50 m. These termites are less aggressive but attack living trees in the forest. The termites can damage structural timbers, fence posts, and poles. These termites hollow the interiors of the timber and leave a thin layer.
