Cryptotermes Brevis is also known as West Indian Drywood termite. This species of termites are known as the most destructive dry wood termites for causing extensive economic damage to the timber in large parts of Australia. The Cryptotermes Brevis frequently introduce in new locations. These termites have a special characteristic to live completely inside the timber without requiring any water source. The termites in this species build colonial nests and dwell inside the timber. The nest consists of chambers for rearing larvae. This termite species have short limbs and walk slowly. The termites in this species are blind excluding the reproductive class. The small monsters have strong jaws that enable them to chew wood fiber and grip the wooden surfaces. The soldiers in this species are around 4-5 mm long with colorless bodies and black color heads. The queen in the colony lays kidney-shaped eggs. A mature colony can contain thousands of termites.
