Common Golden Orb Weaver Spider

The spiders feed on beetles, flies, wood moths, and other insects. The webs are enough strong to trap small birds and bats. The males of these species are found in the edges of the web that wait for a mating opportunity. The females wrap the single egg sac in the golden silk and hide it away from the web.
