Resin Bees

The Resin Bees in Australia are found in varied colors and sizes. You can find 14 mm long bees having white tufts of hair as well as 8 mm black bees having bright orange abdomens. The build their nests in existing holes or gaps available in timber or stonework. This species of bees collect resins and gums for building partitions between the brood cells and seal the nest holes. The name of this species comes from this act of collecting and using resins.
