Yellow and Black Carpenter Bees

The yellow and black carpenter bees are the largest native bees in Australia. This bee species can grow up to 15-24 mm in size. The males and females of this species can easily get distinguished. The males have yellowy brown fur uniformly covering their body while the females have glossy black abdomen with bright yellow fur on its thorax. To build their nests, they cut the soft or dead timber. This species of bees prefer a warm climate.
