The Common Brushtail Possum is also known as a furry-tailed little fox. This species of possums are the second largest possums in Australia that grow to the sizes up to domesticated cats. These creatures have bushy tail adapted to grasp the branches. These possums have large and pointed ears. The forefeet of these creatures have sharp claws, but the first toe is clawless. The Brushtail possums get found in varied color patterns, i.e., Silver-Gray, Black, Brown, Red, and Cream. The adult Brushtail Possum’s body’s length is 32-58 cm, and the tail length is 24-40 cm. These creatures weigh around 1.2-4.5Kg. The males in this species are larger than the females, and their coat is reddish near the shoulders. The Brushtail Possums easily get adapted to habitats and vegetation as available. These creatures prefer Eucalyptus leaves and also feed on flowers, fruits, shoots, and seeds. The possums also feed on insects, other small vertebrates as well as eggs and chicks of birds.
