The Powderpost Beetle is woodboring beetle group consisting 70 species of beetles. This group of beetles gets the second-ranking after the termites for their ability to destroy dry and seasoned woods. This group of beetles comprises several species of small beetles which have the ability to reduce the wood pieces into powder.
The adults lay eggs in the wood products. The larvae come out after hatching and start feeding on the wood creating narrow tunnels. These beetles take a long time to attain adulthood, i.e. five years. The adults are nocturnal and remain active at night.
