The House Longhorn Beetle is famous as wood-boring beetle. It feeds on softwood timbers causing extensive damages to furniture and other wood products. These beetles grow up to 8-25 mm long and are blackish brown. The beetles have two grayish white patches of fine hairs on its wings. It has two shiny bumps on its neck shield. The beetles don’t cause the extensive damages! The larvae are the significant destroyers of timbers. The larvae destroy beams, roof trusses, floorboards, doors as well as stored timbers. The larvae are 2-3mm long and 4-6mm thick. The color of larvae is pale cream and bodies have ring-shaped segments. The lifespan of the beetles is only few weeks and their ultimate aim is to reproduce. The females lay eggs in the fine cracks of woods. Within few days the eggs hatch and the larvae start gnawing the wood. The feeding activity considerably weakens the structures and causes extensive damage.
