Aedes Camptorhynchus is the species of mosquito that carries Ross River Virus and is common in Australia. The adult females in this species are medium-sized and dark in appearance. These insects have banded legs, and their proboscis is extensively mottled. The scutum has no particular pattern, but narrow golden scales with few paler patches at the mid-length. The wings are dark scaled while the hind legs have pale scales. The abdominal portion has a convex shape in the midline. The adults remain active throughout the year and disperse widely. The mosquitoes attack all type of vertebrates and feed during dusk and after sunset.
