The American Cockroaches are reddish brown and the area behind the head has an outline of a yellow band. The adults grow up to 50 mm in length which makes this species the largest cockroach. The female produces 10-90 egg cases, and each egg case contains 14-28 eggs. The female roach in this species, deposit the egg cases in warm and humid areas.
The American cockroaches have wings, and they can fly when they become adults. The cockroaches in this species prefer to dwell outdoors in warm and damp areas. These roaches get found in sewer systems. In search of food and water, these roaches invade interiors. The roaches feed on leaves, tiny wood particles, fungi, algae, scraps of food, spilled food, etc. The adult lifecycle of these cockroaches is 100 days- 3 years.
