The Oriental Cockroaches also called as black beetle cockroaches for their smooth and dark bodies. These roaches also get distinguished for releasing a strong and unpleasant odor. The adults in this species grow up to 25-32 mm long. The wings of the females in this species are undeveloped. The female lays egg case containing around 14 eggs. The lifespan of these roaches is up to 180 days.
These roaches prefer to run rather than flying. These easily get adapted to lower temperatures in comparison to other species of roaches. The oriental cockroaches feed on all types of food but preferably feed on decaying organic matter and starchy food. These roaches get found in sewers, under leaves, debris, stones, and firewood. It is not surprising to find these roaches in crawl spaces and basements.
