The paralysis ticks are also known as Ixodes Holocyclus. It is one of the 75 species of ticks common in Australia. This species of ticks are held responsible for 95% of tick bites in Eastern Australia. The Paralysis Ticks inject neurotoxins into the host’s body while biting. If left untreated, the toxins paralyze the muscle tissue which includes skeletal muscles, respiratory muscles, laryngeal muscles, oesophageal muscle, and heart muscle. The Paralysis Ticks are densely populated in Australia and get found in different types of habitats. These parasites prefer dwelling in high rainfall areas with the wet and humid condition. Very dry and very wet areas are not ideal for these ticks. These ticks attack humans, domestic animals as well as native animals.
