Fruit Fly

Fruit flies are small in size and these get such a name as they get attracted towards ripened fruits and vegetables. This species of flies are commonly seen during late summer. The adults in this species are 1/8 inches long. Thorax of these flies is tan while the abdomen portion is black in color. Some of the flies may have red eyes while some may have dark eyes.  The houses having a garden with fruit trees and vegetable plants get infested by these flies. The fruit flies lay their eggs on the surface of the fermenting foods as well as other moist organic materials are suitable for breeding. Reproduction process of the fruit flies is large and in suitable condition, they lay about 500 eggs. A fruit fly attains adulthood within a week.
