The family of Sod webworms is vast consisting more than 20 species. These creatures are turf-damaging. The adult moths lay eggs on the grass blades in the night and the eggs hatch within seven days. The young sod webworms grow up to one inch in length and turn green or brown colored creatures with dark spotting on their body. These nocturnal creatures hide during the day in their silken burrows. Within five weeks the worms grow into adult moths. The moths don’t cause any damage to the lawn, but the larval damage is extensive. The damages include large brown patches on the field. These worms chew the leaves and the stems.
